Todd Proa is a Port Charlotte, Florida-based coach and physical education professional with years of experience working with youths and student athletes. While his career has been focused on coaching swimming and soccer, Todd has a passion for all sports and athletic training.
Todd Proa’s Swimming Experience
Most of Todd Proa’s experience comes from coaching swimming, on the high school level in particular. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Science from Cleveland State University in 1993, Todd accepted a position as the Director of Aquatics for the Warrensville Heights Parks and Recreations Department. In this capacity, Todd was responsible for maintenance and repair of the pool area. He also supervised a staff of lifeguards as the head swim coach was in charge of scheduling both adult and youth swim lessons. His duties also included maintaining the concession stand, performing safety training, and taking care of membership issues and queries. Todd Proa worked for the Warrensville Heights Parks and Rec department until 1994, when he moved on to become the Aquatics Director and the North Central Florida YMCA. Here, Todd had many duties similar to what he did in Warrensville, giving swim lessons, supervising the pool area, managing and scheduling a team of lifeguards. After spending two years at the North Central Florida YMCA, Todd Proa moved on to become the Aquatics Director at the Sarasota YMCA, where he continued to manage pool operations at a high level. Between the years of 1994 and 2004, Todd Proa used his extensive aquatics and management experience to contribute to the Amateur Athletic Union as its National Aquatic Chairman. In this role, Todd was charged with maintaining operations for the associations national aquatic sports, including swimming, synchronized swimming, water polo, and diving. Todd managed staff, worked on strategies for marketing for the association, laid out budgets and conducted necessary contract negotiations. He also planned events and helped to develop and implement the AAU’s policies. In 2005, Todd Proa was promoted to be the Administrative Director of Sports Development at the AAU. He continued to carry out his duties as the Aquatics National Chairman while also acting as an Executive Committee Member and the Gymnastics National Treasurer. Todd also organized elections and nominations for new members of the union.
Todd Proa’s Soccer Experience
While he has an extensive resume relating to swimming and aquatics management, his other passion is coaching soccer. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He has spent time coaching youth soccer in schools and communities throughout his career.
